બે ચાર જણ પોતાનાં
બસ હવે બચ્યાં છે
બાકી ગલી ગલીમાં
સૌ ખંજર લઈ ઊભાં છે.
જઈ પેલા ખૂણામાં
સારી દે તારા આંસુ
સમજે, ઝીલે, કે લૂછે
એવા હાથ ના બચ્યાં છે.
પાસ આવી પૂછે હાલ
એ માણસ ક્યાં બચ્યાં છે?
વીણી વીણી ને સત્યો
ધરબી દે ઊંડે અહીંયા
પચાવે કરી પ્રયોગો કંઈ
એવા આતમ ક્યાં બચ્યાં છે?
ઇતિહાસની સમજ તારી
તું ભૂલી જા હવે
હકીકતોના નામે
અસતનામા બચ્યાં છે
કરીશ ના કવિતા
અન-અલ-હકની હવે તું
લલકારે સલ્તનતને
કે કંઠે અટક્યાં ડૂમાં છે.
હું તો કહું છું
દફનાવ આવતીકાલને ય આજે
ઊગવાને સૂરજ કોઈ આંખે
આકાશ ક્યાં બચ્યાં છે?

to call your own
is all you have now,
for every corner
every street
has someone waiting
with a dagger to kill.
Go, hide in that corner
shed all your tears
there are no palms
to understand, catch,
or wipe them off, dear.
No people, no more,
to ask after you.
Collect your truths
bury them deep
here, right here.
Where to find the soul
that experimented
and embraced these,
and these,
and these?
You better forget
your idea of history
Asatnamaas are left
in the name of facts.
Don't write poems
of an-al-huk any more
sobs throttle the voices
that dare the Empire.
I say, today itself
you cremate tomorrow,
for there are no skies
no eyes
for the Sun to rise.
A couple of people
