નથી કશું ય અદકેરું સૌન્દર્ય આ વસુંધરા પાસે એથી વધુ
ખરે જ હશે માંહ્યલો લાગણીશૂન્ય, જે ચાલ્યો જાય છે
મનોહારી આ દૃશ્યને વિણ જોયે,
નગર આ ભાસે જાણે કોઈ વસ્ત્રપ્રાવરણ સમું.
પ્રાતઃકાળનું માધુર્ય: પ્રશાંતરમણીય અને સ્ફુટ,
આ નૌકાઓ, મિનારા, ગુંબજો, વિલાસભવનો ને દેવમંદિરો
પામ્યા છે સુદૂર પ્રસ્તાર પેલ્લાં હરિયાળા મેદાનો અને ક્ષિતિજે ઝળુંબતા અવકાશ સુધી
રેલાતી આ નિર્ધૂમ લહેરખીઓમાં છે સઘળું ય ઝળાંઝળાં.
ન કદીયે અવતર્યો હશે સૂર્ય આટલો કુમાશથી
ઉપત્યકા, શિલા કે ટીલા પરે તેજનાં અંબારે
ને કદીયે ના નિહાળી, અરે ! અનુભવી ના કદીયે આવી નિતાંત નીરવતા.
વહે છે સરિતા તેની મનોનીત મધુર-શી ચાલે
ઓ પ્રભુ ! આ નિંદ્રાધીન ભાસતી પ્યારી-શી ઈમારતો
ને નગરનાં પુરુષાર્થી હૃદયો છે હજુ મહીં પોઢેલાં !
