બરફની સાંજે વનમાં વિરામ

હું ધારું હું જાણું આ વંન કોનાં.
જોકે એનું ઘર અહીં રહ્યું ગામમાં તોય એ ના
જોશે કે હું થંભિયો છું અહીં હા
જોવા એના વન પર છવાતો કશો બર્ફ હાવાં.
મારા નાના અશ્વને મંન થાશે −
પેલા થીજ્યા સરવર અને વંન આ બેની વચ્ચે
માંહી ખેતી-વાસ ના તોય થંભુ !
સૌથી કાળી વરસભરની સંધિકાએ, વિચિત્ર !
થાતી કૈં ના ભૂલ તો ? − જાણવાને
જાણે એ હા નિજ ધૂસરીના ઘૂઘરા લે હલાવી,
ને બીજો છે માત્ર આંહીં અવાજ
આસ્તે થાતો પવન-પડતો પિચ્છ શો બર્ફ-એનો.
રૂડાં આ છે વંન, શાં શ્યામ, ઊંડાં
કિંતુ મારે કંઈક કંઇ છે વાયદા પૂરવાના,
ને જાવાના કોશ કૈં નીંદ પ્હેલાં,
ને જાવાના કંઈક કંઇ રે કોશ હા નીંદ પ્હેલાં.

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
