કોઇ પગલાં કેરી ભાત બધી
કેમ કરી ચિતરવી મારે
આંગણ રંગરંગી રંગોળી
કોઈના ફળિયે સડતી
ફસલ આખી સફરજનની
કેમ કરી કરવી મિજબાની
મઠિયાં, સેવ, સુવાળીની
કોઈને આંગણ ચીસ કકળતી
તૂટતાં પથ્થર, કાચ ને માથાં,
કેમ કરી ઉજવું દિવાળી
કેમની મઝા હો આતશબાજીની?
કોઈની વાણી ગઈ લુંટાઈ
ખખડતી શબ્દોની લાચારી
માફ કરીશ આ વરસ તું મુજને
જો દઉં ના વધાઈ તને દિવાળીની?

stones, glass, and skulls
How can I celebrate Diwali?
How do I drown myself
in the sounds of fireworks?
Someone robbed you
of your speech
Resounding helplessness
of words I hear.
